I received a call yesterday from the Austin Code Compliance Office inquiring about a condo in the complex at 601 Brushy. The officer found my contact info through Trulia. I am familiar with the complex because I had a unit under contract earlier this year. We looked into the HOA docs regarding short term rentals, and they were noted. I don't want to get anyone in trouble, so I will leave it at that.
This is not my best phone performance, but you can listen to the call below. No, I do not record my phone calls, but Trulia records calls that come in through their site. In the recording below, the code compliance officer is asking me to provide the gate code to the complex. I would never give out access info to anyone other than another real estate professional.
They are out there, folks. If you are not registered with the City for short term rentals, you may want to reconsider after you hear this.
